Paul J Penton is emerging as one of Australia’s exiting new breed of craft based songwriters. After two years of intesive study with Berklee Music College, seminars with Berklee Music School legend Pat Pattison, and hit songwriter Jason Blume as well as Nashville #1 writer Steve Seskin Paul J Penton’s songs are begining to reflect the maturity of his studies.

With tuition from renowned vocal coach Renee Grant-Williams who has worked with industry luminaries such as Keith Urban, Christina Aguilera, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Garth Brooks, Paul’s occasional performances at the ‘Elwood lounge’ are getting better and better as he tries out new material to gauge audience reaction and to maintain performance levels. More regular full length shows are being planned for later in the year.

As well as being keenly interested in the craft of songwriting, Paul is a talented Sound Engineer recording Classical and World music as well as producing Radio Dramas and Documentaries. Paul has recently completed courses in advanced mixing and mastering techniques in Pro Tools with Berklee music college and is looking forward to developing and producing new Artists in Melbourne. Paul has also completed Andrea Stolpe’s ‘Commercial Songwriting Techniques’ through Berklee and is currently deepening his understanding of harmony and rythm construction, studying the work of Jai Josefs – author of ‘Writing music for hit songs’.

Paul meets regularly on Mondays with a group of like-minded writers for encouragement and critiques and actively Co-Writes with several Melbourne songwriters. Paul is also a member of Nashvilee Songwriters Association International.

Current projects include the crafting of his latest creations with a view to producing Nashville Demos as well as recording some new songs in the April quarter for possible online release. Paul is in the process of digitising his first Album “in the name of…” [2001] for digital release.
